Bring traditional Asian mystique and protective energy to your home with this handsome pair of vintage Shiwan Kiln ceramic Foo Dogs (guardian lions).
Resting proudly on matching square plinths, this pair features a unique and beautiful amber-brown glaze accented with striking emerald green details on their curly manes, eyebrows, and paws. The male lion playfully rests his paw on a brocade ball, while the female lion is depicted with a playful cub, representing the traditional "Fu" (fortune) and protection. Their expressive, somewhat whimsical faces and muscular bodies showcase the rustic, masterful craftsmanship of traditional Chinese pottery.
With their solid bases, these substantial figures are perfect for flanking an entryway, guarding a fireplace, or acting as impressive, heavy bookends on a bookshelf. They add a bold, sculptural element to any Chinoiserie, eclectic, or maximalist interior.
