Add an iconic piece of late-90s post-modernism to your dining space with this matching set of 6 authentic Kartell FPE (Fantastic Plastic Elastic) chairs.
Designed by legendary architect and artist Ron Arad in 1997, these chairs are celebrated for their fluid curves, minimalist engineering, and museum-collected status (including the permanent collection at MoMA).
The structural genius of the FPE chair lies in its construction: a single sheet of flexible, durable polypropylene seamlessly slides into two parallel extruded aluminum tubes. The entire chair is held together by structural tension—completely devoid of screws, welds, or glue.
True to their name, these "elastic" chairs offer incredible kinetic comfort, as the backrest remains subtly flexible until weight is applied, contouring perfectly to the body. Because they are exceptionally lightweight (~8.25 lbs each) and stack compactly up to 8 chairs high, they are as highly practical as they are sculptural. Perfect for an indoor dining room or a chic outdoor patio layout.
