The substantial frame is clad in tessellated lacquered goatskin, meticulously inlaid in a patchwork pattern that creates subtle tonal variation and a refined, organic texture. A clear lacquer finish enhances the natural patterning of the hide and introduces a soft sheen that catches and reflects light. Emphasizing the mirror’s elegant, architectural arched silhouette, a series of brass strips crisply outline and delineate each lacquered segment with a stunning precision and material balance. This polished brass detail provides a warm metallic counterpoint to the creamy, matte richness of the goatskin, exemplifying Springer’s talent for pairing opulent materials in a disciplined, modern vocabulary. Signed by Karl Springer, this piece is emblematic of his late 20th-century American luxury design—minimal in form yet undeniably sumptuous in execution. Both sculptural and functional, the mirror works equally well as a statement in a foyer, living room, dressing area, or bedroom, and is especially at home in interiors that blend modern, Hollywood Regency, or sophisticated eclectic aesthetics. A collectible example of Springer’s work, this mirror captures the essence of high-end 1980s design: bold simplicity, exquisite materials, and enduring elegance. In Excellent Vintage Condition.
