An elegant vintage Japanese print on silk depicting two beautifully dressed women in richly patterned traditional kimonos, presented in a warm bamboo-style wooden frame.
Titled Uta Yomu Onna ("Woman in the Mood of Composing a Poem"), the artwork is after Kitao Masanobu (1761–1816), also known as Santō Kyōden, a celebrated Japanese artist and writer of the Edo period.
The composition features two graceful figures in elaborate kimonos of deep emerald green, vermilion, cream, and gold. The intricate textile patterns, delicate hairstyles, and expressive gestures beautifully capture the refinement of traditional Japanese ukiyo-e art.
Printed on silk, the artwork has a distinctive surface texture that adds depth and visual interest to the composition.
An original descriptive paper label on the reverse identifies the artwork as Sheet 11, "Uta Yomu Onna," and provides historical information about the artist and composition. The label identifies the principal subject as Nanasato of the Yotsumeya House, contemplating poetry with a writing brush in her hand.
The silk print is professionally presented beneath an ivory mat in a natural bamboo-style frame, creating a beautiful balance of Japanese traditional artistry and understated decorative appeal.
