Ehrlich's designs for Hellerau revolutionized East German post-war interior design by combining functional, modular furniture with the clear, uncluttered aesthetic of the Bauhaus tradition. The piece's architecture is classically structured: the right and center sections offer ample storage behind hinged doors, while the left side features four gently curved drawers. A true rarity and highlight of this piece lies within: the drawer inserts are made of rare red plastic. While the very first versions were made of wood and later series were mostly produced in neutral gray or beige, this red variant marks a particularly sought-after production phase from the mid-1960s. The original production mark on the back also guarantees its historical provenance. This sideboard is crafted from high-quality ash wood, boasting a warm, light tone. The pronounced, expressive grain flows harmoniously across the fronts, lending the geometrically minimalist design a vibrant, natural appeal. We have thoroughly cleaned, professionally restored, and completely sanded and refinished the piece. It is in good vintage condition with minor signs of age. All details are accurately documented in the photographs.
