Danish table lamp in partially glazed stoneware, designed and made by tue poulsen in his own workshop, 1960s–1970s. The base is a bottle form, with a straight cylindrical body and a narrow neck that ends in a slight lip. The underside has an incised "tue denmark" signature.
the piece is wheel-thrown. Bands of dark iron slip sit in incised grooves around the neck, shoulder and body. An ochre glaze with pale grey edges covers two broader sections of the body, and the lowest part is left as bare, speckled clay.
concentric rings on the shoulder give the top a clear, graphic finish. The lamp is fitted with a dark brown socket with turn switch and a brass shade carrier. The warm, earthy palette sits easily in danish mid-century modern and organic modern interiors.
poulsen's work has been exhibited in denmark and abroad, including in germany, italy, france and the united states. It is held in collections such as designmuseum danmark in copenhagen and the musée national de céramique in sèvres. A compact, well-balanced lamp. This piece has an attribution mark,
