The iridescent shell contrasts beautifully with the deep reddish-brown wood, while a gently scalloped raised rim frames the composition.

The traditional motif, known as “Lu He Tong Chun,” uses a Chinese wordplay to express spring throughout the world—a wish for renewal, flourishing life, and good fortune. The deer also carries an association with prosperity through its Chinese name.

Its rectangular shape makes it an attractive setting for teaware or small decorative objects, while the detailed inlay allows it to be appreciated as a display piece in its own right.
