Panels of honey-toned bird’s-eye maple are framed in warm fruitwood and outlined with fine checkered stringing, in the Lombard marquetry tradition.

The front has two short drawers over two long drawers. The long drawers are designed sans traverse: one oval medallion runs across both, inlaid with a basket of flowers in exotic woods on a dark ground. The drawers have cast brass bail pulls with foliate backplates.

The case sits beneath its original molded giallo di Siena marble top, veined in golden ochre and cream, and stands on square tapered legs with carved block capitals. The drawers have hand-cut dovetails and slide smoothly.

At 48 inches wide, it has generous storage and a commanding presence. It’s a warm, luminous piece for a bedroom, entry or living room, and the marble top makes it a natural bar or buffet as well.
