Beautiful matched set of six Chinese-style yoke-back (guanmaoyi / official’s hat) chairs by Baker Furniture. Includes two armchairs and four side chairs. Classic Ming-inspired design with elegant curved crest rails, central back splats, and graceful lines.
Finished in the highly desirable “scrubbed white” / distressed light-wood finish that shows soft wear and character. Dark vertically striped upholstered seats. Original manufacturer tags still present on the chairs, including Ranker Bros. (L.A., CA) frame identification labels, fabric codes, ACK No. 93531, and ship date of 5/25/84. Pink Baker tag also visible on at least one chair.
These are solid, well-made chairs with excellent presence — perfect as a full dining set or mixed around a table and as accent seating.

The solid wood frames are sturdy and structurally sound with no wobble or loose joints. The scrubbed white / distressed finish shows the intentional light wear and soft patina that is characteristic of this Baker treatment, along with some minor surface scuffs, small nicks, and light marks consistent with normal use over 40 years. Seat cushions remain intact and usable. The dark striped fabric shows light wear and some softening of the pile, but no major tears, holes, or significant staining. Original manufacturer tags are still present and legible. Overall, these chairs are clean, solid, and ready to use as-is. They display beautifully and retain excellent character.
