A magnificent and highly detailed vintage sculpture of Caishen, the revered Chinese God of Wealth. This substantial piece is heavily cast in solid brass/bronze and richly finished with vibrant polychrome colors and intricate gold gilt.
Standing at 11 inches tall and weighing an impressive 7.5 lbs, the deity is depicted in a commanding seated pose, smiling broadly in traditional robes adorned with high-relief five-clawed dragons. In one hand, he holds a golden ingot (yuanbao) symbolizing wealth; in the other, a ceremonial tablet. He wears an elaborate, ornate crown and sits upon a majestic throne over swirling waves, all resting on a heavy base engraved with the Chinese characters "财神爷" (Cai Shen Ye - God of Wealth).
