Dating to approximately 1870–1900, this primitive wooden chest is a wonderful example of traditional craftsmanship and rustic Americana.

Constructed from substantial wide planks with visible nailed joinery, original-style iron strap hinges, a hinged lid, and a divided interior compartment for tool storage. Particularly charming are the carved wooden end battens with incised geometric detailing, adding a distinctive folk-art quality to this utilitarian piece.

The beautifully weathered wood displays deep, warm coloration, pronounced grain, old tool marks, and generations of authentic wear. Its richly textured surface and timeworn character reflect more than a century of history.

Perfect as a rustic farmhouse accent, decorative storage trunk, or small blanket chest, this versatile antique brings warmth, history, and character to any collected interior.

Condition: Antique condition with age-appropriate scratches, surface wear, oxidized iron hardware, and natural imperfections. Front lock hardware is incomplete. The original aged patina has been preserved. See less
