A breathtaking and substantial vintage sculpture of Green Tara (Sgrol-ma), a revered deity in Tibetan Buddhism known for swift action and compassion. This Himalayan-style statue is masterfully cast in heavy bronze and richly finished with gold gilding (gilt) and vibrant polychrome accents.
The craftsmanship is truly exceptional. The figure is seated in the graceful "lalitasana" (royal ease) pose upon a double-lotus base. She is adorned with an elaborate, high-relief crown, intricate jewelry, and flowing robes, all highlighted with deep red and green painted details. Her hands are elegantly positioned in the "varada mudra" (gesture of granting boons) and holding the stem of a lotus flower that blossoms at her shoulder.
