This painting shows an elegant table set for four inside a sunlit conservatory or glass-walled terrace. A round table draped in a white tablecloth with an ornate lace overlay sits at the center, set with white china plates, silverware, and a cluster of crystal wine and water glasses. Four gold bamboo-style Chiavari chairs with white cushions surround it, and a tall glass candelabra rises from the middle of the table, crowned with cascading white orchids.

The setting is lush and romantic. Tall spires of foxgloves in pink, red, and white line the left side, mixed with white lilies, ferns, and dense green foliage. Behind the table, a large grid of glass panes lets in soft, hazy daylight, and on the right a stone balustrade opens onto a misty view of treetops and distant hills.

The style is realistic and finely detailed, especially in the lace, the glassware's reflections, and the flowers. The palette of whites, soft greens, gold, and pastel pinks gives the scene a calm, celebratory mood, like a garden wedding or intimate luncheon about to begin. A signature appears on the cushion of the front-right chair. See less
