Founded in Massachusetts in the 19th century, the Whiting Manufacturing Company became one of America's respected producers of fine sterling silver hollowware and flatware. The firm was particularly admired for the quality of its craftsmanship and the sophistication of its designs. Whiting became part of the Gorham Manufacturing Company in 1905, although its distinguished name continued to be used.

With its generous capacity, substantial weight, and impressive proportions, this pitcher would make a striking centerpiece on a dining table, sideboard, or bar. Equally suitable for practical use or display, it represents the elegance and enduring appeal of American sterling silver hollowware.
