A face rendered in ochre and gold stares past you with pale blue eyes, one brow arched, the gaze just off-center. A heavy black mustache sits above deep crimson lips. A hand rises to the cheek, its sleeve dotted with small red marks like a pulse. Behind him, a sweep of burnt copper falls like a curtain, while teal, moss green and violet blocks gather below in a patchwork of windows and walls.

The brushwork is bold and unfiltered. Colors are dragged, layered and left to argue with each other. It is part portrait, part mood, with the raw directness of outsider and expressionist traditions. It's the kind of piece that seems to watch the room.
