Directly inspired by the renowned studies of children created by the sculptor Jean-Antoine Houdon, these pieces perfectly embody the duality of human emotions through the vivacity and freshness of childhood.

On one side, "Weeping John" offers a striking expression of childlike sorrow, his mouth open in a sob and his face creased with remarkable anatomical accuracy. On the other, "Laughing John" displays a radiant and mischievous face, marked by plump cheekbones and a contagious smile captured in a fleeting moment. The exquisite detail of the chiseling is evident even in the delicate curls of their hair and the gentleness of their facial features. Each bust rests on a molded bronze pedestal, itself surmounting a quadrangular griotte marble base, lending a classical elegance while highlighting the quality of the overall craftsmanship. This charming pair of bronzes, both expressive and highly decorative, will appeal to lovers of classical art and sculpture seeking a refined period piece.
