Louis Wolchonok (American, 1898-1973) drawing on paper, signed lower right; matted and presented in silver frame. Wolchonok was a WPA etcher, painter, muralist, and graphic artist. He studied at the National Academy of Design, The Cooper Union, the City College of New York, Académie Julian in Paris, and the Brooklyn Academy of Fine Arts. He taught drafting at the City College of New York from 1930; and design, painting and etching at the Craft Students League, YWCA, New York, from 1932. He was the author of The Art of Three Dimensional Design: How to Create Space Figures, Lessons in Pictorial Composition and Design for Artist and Craftsmen.
