Captivating piece of Asian decorative art featuring an intricate Thai temple stone rubbing depicting mythological figures from the Ramakien, Thailand’s celebrated adaptation of the Hindu epic Ramayana.
Rendered in rich sepia tones against a light background, the composition showcases elaborately adorned figures, ornate headdresses, detailed costumes, and traditional Thai cloud motifs. The finely detailed imagery creates a striking focal point for an Asian-inspired interior, eclectic gallery wall, study, or curated art collection.
An especially appealing feature is the original printed documentation from Graphic Circle, Gordon’s Fifth Avenue Gallery, New York City, which accompanies the artwork. The historical information sheet describes the stone rubbings and their connection to marble relief carvings at Wat Pho, the Temple of the Reclining Buddha, in Bangkok, Thailand. It also discusses the historical origins of the carvings and the Ramakien narrative.
Presented in a wood frame, this piece offers both decorative appeal and fascinating cultural context. The surviving gallery paperwork adds provenance
