The tray features hand-painted Arabic and French script, floral motifs, and a central geometric design, all executed in traditional cobalt blue, ochre, and green on a creamy glazed ground.
The Arabic script reads “Qasr al-Jamai”, which translates to Palais Jamai. The piece also bears the name Fes, identifying the city. Palais Jamai is a renowned 19th-century palace later converted into a luxury hotel and cultural landmark.
The tray is clearly handmade and hand-painted, with visible brushwork, natural glaze variations, kiln freckles, and an uneven rustic form. The back is unglazed and shows authentic firing marks and age-related patina.
This is not modern souvenir ware, but a genuine mid-century artisan piece, likely produced for or sold through the Palais Jamai or local Fes workshops.
