A Danish rosewood secretary desk attributed to Svend Madsen, dating to the 1960s. Its tall, compact form combines the presence of a cabinet with the function of a writing piece.
The richly patterned rosewood gives the exterior visual depth, while the vertical proportions make efficient use of a modest footprint. At 35.5 inches wide and 18 inches deep, it is a considered choice for a study, bedroom or living area.
Drawer storage provides a place for papers and everyday objects. The secretary format allows a workspace to feel integrated with the room's furniture rather than visually separate from it.
The piece is unmarked, and the Svend Madsen attribution is qualified. Offered as one secretary desk.
Condition
Vintage condition with scratches, fading, rubbing, discoloration to the top drawer and drawers that are stiff to operate.
Style Notes
The warm grain and restrained geometry suit Danish Modern and Scandinavian interiors. Pair with a simple chair, task lighting and a few sculptural objects for a workspace that remains visually calm.
