Ferrante is inspired by the great masters of the School of Posillipo, including Antonio Pitloo and Giacinto Gigante, who used the Navy as a subject to portray and idyllic landscape. In the painting we admire a sea view of Messina with a large tower situated in the south-east corner of the fortress, surrounded by the sea, classical and Mediterranean sunshine breathing by history and nature of the Italian landscape.
