This extraordinary carved wall panel is a commanding example of Dedalo Montali’s lifetime dedication to sculptural expression. This wall panel is executed in burnished and stained Fuma plywood, an expressive material choice that underscores Montali’s mastery of wood as a medium. The surface features an intricate interplay of carved abstract shapes and overlapping organic motifs, creating a dynamic, almost rhythmic composition that moves across the plane. The relief elements cast subtle shadows that change with light, giving the panel a living presence that engages the viewer from near and far. The piece remains in good condition, with evidence of professional repairs that speak to both its age and the care it has received over time. Its impressive scale and sculptural force make it more than simply decorative: this is a statement work of art that bridges the worlds of mid-century abstraction and artisanal craftsmanship. Truly a monumental achievement from Montali’s oeuvre, this panel stands as a testament to his artistic depth and his skillful handling of material, form, and space. It will command attention in any interior and serve as a profound centerpiece for collectors of post-war modern art and sculpture alike. See less
