The lamps feature sculptural red lacquered metal bases contrasted by chrome-plated supports and cylindrical fittings. Elegant opaline glass shades with fine gold-tone rims complete the design, creating a particularly attractive combination of color, material and geometric form. The shades can be adjusted to direct the light, making these lamps both decorative and practical. Their compact proportions make them particularly suitable as bedside or nightstand lamps, while their distinctive space age appearance also works beautifully on a desk, console or side table. A fine example of postwar czechoslovak lighting design with a bold visual presence and highly characteristic 1960s aesthetic. The pair remains in good original condition with minor signs of use and age. The original electrical components have been checked by an electrician and are in working condition.
