Design and features:
The front is composed of three sliding doors—white, yellow, and white—with perforated knobs and five drawers with lacquered fronts in gradations of color, from ivory to light blue. This interplay of block colors, unusual in more sober Scandinavian production, makes the piece a decorative as well as functional accent. The frame rests on chromed metal legs, rather than the classic tapered wooden ones—a detail that places the piece in the late 1950s, when some designers began experimenting with more industrial materials.
Materials and production:
Teak frame, doors and drawers lacquered in the original colors. Metal legs. Danish production, 1950s.
Condition:
Professionally restored in our workshop in Rome using conservative methods. The original patina is preserved, the wood treated with natural waxes and oils.
