The collection comprises two detailed figurative designs depicting songbirds perched on flowering branches — one against a terracotta-red ground and the other against a neutral beige ground — together with a third rug featuring a traditional geometric central medallion surrounded by tribal-inspired motifs.

Small in scale yet remarkably detailed, the three pieces were originally conceived as decorative textile accents or refined table pieces. Displayed together, they also create a distinctive and highly decorative triptych, bringing colour, texture and craftsmanship to an interior.

Each rug measures approximately 30 × 30 cm (12 × 12 inches) and is finished with circular cotton fringe. The total weight of the set is approximately 455 g.

Provenance & Documentation

Prior to professional cleaning, each rug retained its original historical inventory label from Khonsari, Orient-Teppich Gross-Import, Bad Kissingen, Germany. The labels bore the wording “Garantiert Echt Handgeknüpft” (“Guaranteed Genuine Hand-Knotted”), together with inventory information and the 30 cm size designation.

The original labels were photographed and documented before cleaning. During the professional cleaning process, the paper labels became detached and are no longer present on the rugs. Photographs taken before cleaning are retained as part of the documentation of the set.

Condition

Professionally cleaned by a textile specialist and presented in clean, ready-to-display vintage condition, with the cotton fringes well preserved.

For full transparency, the terracotta/burgundy rug with the songbird motif shows a small, localized area of vintage pile wear measuring approximately 7 mm, clearly documented in the detailed photographs. In this area, the white foundation threads are visible. This is not an open hole or tear: the underlying structure remains tight, stable and intact.
