A wonderfully characterful French mirror with an unusual, sculptural silhouette and beautifully weathered zinc finish. The distinctive frame is crafted from clatted zinc, with individually shaped panels carefully fitted together to create its irregular, almost abstract form. The overlapping construction showcases the maker’s skill, while the zigzag edging and small rust-coloured rivets add further detail and texture. The hand-finished surface has a wonderfully primitive, folk-art quality, with subtle variations in tone and patination that speak to its age and craftsmanship. The softly aged zinc adds depth and character, making this a particularly interesting decorative piece. Its sculptural silhouette and carefully worked finish give it a strong handcrafted presence, while retaining the rustic charm of traditional French metalwork. Full of rustic French charm, this quirky zinc mirror would look fabulous in a hallway, bedroom or bathroom, either displayed on its own or as part of an eclectic collection.
