This striking vintage statue depicts a powerful ox, the second animal in the Chinese zodiac, cast in a dynamic, charging posture with its head lowered and horns pointed forward. Crafted from copper with vibrant cloisonné enamel, the piece is a magnificent example of traditional craftsmanship.
The ox's body is covered in a bright turquoise blue enamel ground, overlaid with a rich, continuous pattern of scrolling floral and vine motifs in a multitude of colors, including red, yellow, green, pink, and white. The horns, face, hooves, and a distinctive large ring handle attached to its back are all finished in dark, polished bronze, creating a striking contrast against the colorful enamel.
The ox is depicted with a sense of strength and "ready to charge" energy, making it a powerful symbol of diligence and determination. This substantial piece is perfect for use as a decorative accent, a paperweight, or as a meaningful addition to a collection of Asian art or zodiac figures.
