Japanese elm and pine wood step tansu cabinet.
In traditional, compact Japanese homes, Kaidan Dansu served as a literal, structural staircase providing physical access to an upper floor, loft, or attic while utilizing the hollow space underneath for storage
This cabinet has an original deep brown stain to wood with slight hues of reddish color.

Description of all compartments, lowest compartments to highest compartments:
This cabinet features two deep drawers underneath the bottom two steps that extend all the way back to the end of the piece.
There is a bottom compartment behind the sliding door made by vertical stripes of wood, has a shelf inside and there are small areas where its appears a steel reinforcement was added.
There is a compartment with a latching door underneath the fourth stair.
The highest sliding cabinet door has a compartment that extends all the way up to the top stair.
There is a picture hook can be easily removed with no damage to piece.

We are a small team and the item is too heavy and difficult to move around in our shop to get a picture of the back but it is in excellent condition and has unfinished wood the same as the side of the piece that the picture hook is attached to. See less
