The flying saucer by JustFurnituress Designer (tailor-made, handmade project in Italy)
Concept and presence
A piece-sculpture that stands as the visual fulcrum of a contemporary interior: monumental without being cumbersome, it combines material presence and visual lightness. The brass edge defines the perimeter as a precious frame, while the glass top appears to be suspended inside.
Structure and geometry
- Plant: generous circular shape, with balanced proportions designed for conviviality and visibility.
Supports: three cylindrical columns in solid brass that act as a sculptural base, arranged to ensure stability and freedom of movement around the table.
- Edge: continuous brass profile that wraps around the top, beveled and finished by hand.
Materials and finishes
- Edge and bases: full brass, finish available in glossy, brushed or lightly coated options; manually finished welds for a controlled craftsmanship.
- Top: high quality tempered glass, thickness designed for strength and visual lightness; perfectly polished edges.
Construction details and craftsmanship
All Italian processing: cutting glass to the millimetre, sanding and quenching, welding and finishing of brass by hand.
Joints: visible details treated as aesthetic elements - the welds are polished and coated to match the chosen finish.
Customisation: diameter, height, brass finish and glass disc pallets can be tailored.
Sensory and light experience
The brass edge captures and reflects natural and artificial light, creating warm flares that contrast with the cold transparency of the glass.
The coloured discs modulate the tone of the surface: with light, the colour intensifies, the transparency creates dynamic chromatic overlaps.
To the touch, one can perceive the contrast between the soft roughness of the worked brass and the smooth, fresh surface of the glass.
Functions and contexts of use
Perfect as a coffee table in a modern loft, a feature in a showroom, or a central piece in a design meeting room.
Designed to be functional and durable, maintaining aesthetic appeal even in everyday domestic contexts.
Maintenance
Glass: cleaning with non-abrasive detergents and microfibre cloths.
- Brass: glossy finishes require periodic polishing; brushed/coated finishes can be maintained with specific metal products or simply gently cleaned to preserve the patina.
