An extraordinary and exceptionally crafted sculptural chest of drawers by Dutch furniture designer and master craftsman Ivon Hummelink, created in 1991. This remarkable one-of-a-kind piece combines exceptional cabinetmaking with an almost architectural composition, blurring the boundaries between functional furniture and sculpture.
The dramatic vertical construction consists of five progressively smaller drawer sections, creating a rhythmic, ascending silhouette. Beautifully figured burl wood veneer, contrasting wood tones and elegantly curved sides give the cabinet an exceptionally refined appearance. The interior details, including leather-lined elements and felt-lined drawers, further demonstrate the extraordinary attention to craftsmanship.
Standing on four beautifully turned, sculptural legs, the cabinet has an almost musical presence. Its carefully balanced proportions and repeating forms evoke a sense of rhythm and movement, making it a highly decorative and truly exceptional statement piece.
