Set of two Japanese Shinto altar candlesticks from the Shōwa period, dating to circa 1950.
Dimensions: height 31 cm, diameter 8.5 cm.
Crafted in gold-toned metal with an elegant, sculptural form and a warm lustre. The pair has a refined, almost architectural presence and creates a beautifully balanced composition.
Originally used within the Shinto tradition, these candlesticks are equally striking today as a decorative interior accent, displayed symmetrically on a cabinet or console, or incorporated into a small personal home altar.
In beautiful vintage condition, with light signs of age and use that enhance their character.
