Dimensions: H 23.5 × diameter 9 cm
Pair of Japanese Buddhist altar candlesticks dating from around 1980, featuring a warm gold-coloured finish with copper-toned candle holders.
The candlesticks have an elegant, slender silhouette with moulded details and a wide, rounded base. Each features a metal spike at the top to hold a candle securely in place.
Traditionally, such candlesticks were used on Japanese Buddhist household altars, known as butsudan, where candlelight plays an important symbolic role in prayers and rituals.
with their understated design and warm golden finish, they also make a refined decorative pair on a sideboard, console or in a Japanese-inspired or eclectic interior.
Good vintage condition with minor scratches, areas of wear and small signs of use consistent with age.
