An exceptional pair of designer armchairs, likely dating from the late 1980s/1990s.
A particularly rare set, characterized by a spectacular design combining black leather, red leather, and chrome metal in a decidedly sculptural form.
Each armchair is built around an imposing curved shell entirely upholstered in black leather, topped with a striking circular red leather frame. This frame appears to float above the structure thanks to slender chrome supports.
The seat is complemented by a wide cylindrical element upholstered in black leather. The lower section also features an elegant chrome metal band. Small casters integrated into the frame allow for easy and discreet movement of the armchairs.
A truly architectural presence, equally striking from the front or the back, making them ideal for placement in the center of a room.
The provenance of this pair is also particularly interesting. According to information provided by their previous owner, these armchairs were made as prototypes or study pieces, possibly not intended for mass production, and were given to him directly by their creator.
Designer currently unidentified.
The pair is preserved in its original configuration, with its black and red upholstery. It shows signs of use and a patina consistent with its age, including some marks and cracks on the red leather, visible in the photographs.
Please note: the foam inside the armrests shows signs of age-related degradation and will need to be replaced to restore their original shape. The leather upholstery itself is preserved.
A rare, spectacular, and particularly decorative set, suitable for both a contemporary interior and a collection of 1980s/90s design furniture.
