The frames are upholstered in black vinyl, generously padded, with wide, rounded armrests and high, contoured backrests.
The back of this set also features particularly meticulous craftsmanship: the rear frame is defined by a chrome-plated tubular metal profile that runs along the sides and lower edge of the backrest, creating an interesting contrast between the softness of the seats and the rigidity of the metal frame. The profile follows the rounded lines of the seats and emphasizes their geometric character. The back of the backrest is wide and slightly curved, while the padding is intentionally left visible, with pleats.
It features stitching, creases, and slight variations in the surface due to the manufacturing process and natural aging of the material. The result is a collection with a typically 1970s aesthetic, where organic, enveloping forms are combined with rationalist-style metal details.
Adriano Piazzesi (1923–2009) was a Florentine designer, architect, painter, and sculptor, active in the fields of design and furniture starting in the 1960s. His architectural training influenced his approach, which focused particularly on the relationship between structure, form, materials, and comfort.
In the furniture sector, he developed a long collaboration with the Florentine company Tre D, later Arketipo, for which he designed numerous chairs, armchairs, and sofas. Among his earliest projects was the Premier armchair from 1969, characterized by an extremely simplified structure and soft, enveloping forms.
