The glass base was produced in Belgium and is associated with Glasfabriek De Rupel in Boom and Massive, dating from the 1960s–70s. Its voluptuous, organic form and softly translucent opaline glass give the lamp a wonderful Space Age / Mid-Century Modern character, while the floral shade adds warmth and a more decorative touch.

What makes this lamp particularly special is its dual-light construction. There is a separate light source inside the glass base as well as a second light source above the base, beneath the shade. The two light sources can be operated independently or used simultaneously. When the internal light is switched on, the translucent purple glass body itself becomes beautifully illuminated, creating a particularly atmospheric effect.

The combination of the sculptural purple glass, softly glowing base and richly patterned vintage shade makes this a striking and highly decorative statement lamp.
