Designer: Oswald Haerdtl
Conceived in the spirit of Mid-Century design, this exceptional set of four chairs dates from the 1950s in Czechoslovakia. The authorial signature and unmistakable design of this set bear the hallmark of the prominent architect Oswald Haerdtl. The artistic and structural concept stems from modernist principles of optical lightness, organic line fluidity, and masterly craftsmanship of solid beech wood. The architectural structure of the chairs is built upon solid, slightly tapering legs and an elegantly shaped plywood backrest featuring a characteristic lower cutout that visually lightens the entire silhouette. The outstanding aesthetic impression is heightened by the original, very well-preserved upholstery in a deep ruby tone, which gives the entire ensemble an unmistakable charm and high utility value.
The items are in their original, very well-preserved condition and have undergone professional cleaning. Experienced restorers have thus successfully maintained one hundred percent structural integrity and maximum visual appeal while preserving absolute historical authenticity, valuable original patina, and the high collector's value of this unique set.
Thanks to their renowned Czechoslovak origin, the prestigious authorship of Oswald Haerdtl, and their timeless design, this set of four chairs serves as a highly exclusive yet fully functional element in a modern interior. They stand out perfectly in a representative dining room, a stylish living room, a design café, or as a breathtaking suite in a space emphasizing top-tier mid-century design. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
