This piece is a prime example of a historical "marriage piece"—an object created by combining elements from different sources. It pairs an authentic 19th-century oval tabletop with a beautifully turned solid mahogany (or other period hardwood) base from the Victorian era.
The lightweight tabletop originally served as the structural component of a high-quality extendable table. After the original veneer was removed at some point in the past, the piece now reveals its raw, authentic core—crafted from poplar, spruce, or another fine wood of the period—bearing the marks of time. Historical joinery lines and construction markings visible on the underside attest to its undeniable authenticity and lend it a character prized by leading interior designers.

Condition and Finish:
The table has been carefully and non-invasively cleaned, then sealed with a natural, eco-friendly hard-wax oil. This treatment highlights the delicate, warm tones of the exposed wood grain, resulting in a matte-satin finish.
The piece embodies a refined Wabi-Sabi aesthetic, showcasing an authentic historical patina:
• Tabletop: The surface is slightly undulating, featuring subtle indentations. • Casters: The tripod base rests on casters featuring period-appropriate brass detailing. Two casters swivel smoothly, while one remains fixed and differs slightly in appearance.
Dimensions:
• Width: 124 cm
• Depth: 96.5 cm
• Height: 74 cm

An exceptional table (suitable as either a side table or a focal point of an interior arrangement) of significant collector's value; ideal for thoughtfully curated spaces that blend historical patina with the concept of sustainable, eco-conscious luxury. See less
