A French outdoor enamel house‑number sign plaque ‘24’, Midcentury Modern design, circa mid 20th century, France.
A vintage French octagonal enamel house‑number plaque featuring the number 24 in deep blue against a white ground, framed by the classic double‑line cobalt border used throughout France in the mid 20th century. The eight‑sided form is a distinctive variation within French street‑number signage, giving the piece a strong graphic presence and a more architectural silhouette. Its geometry aligns beautifully with Midcentury Modern French design.
The plaque is crafted in vitreous enamel on steel, the traditional method for French street numbers. It remains attached to a fragment of its original concrete façade, preserving the authentic way it was installed and adding historical depth. Surface wear, craquelure, and age are consistent with decades of outdoor use and contribute to its aesthetic.
