Carefully deep-cleaned and conditioned to highlight the wood’s warm, time-earned patina and rich grain without stripping its historic character, this complete set includes the original headboard, footboard, and matching solid wood side rails. Its sculptural silhouette and open spindle framework make it an effortless anchor piece for Early American, Colonial Revival, English Country, or Modern Rustic interiors.
Modern Mattress Compatibility & Structural Reinforcement:
Because 19th-century bed frames predate standardized modern bedding, the interior of this frame has been thoughtfully retrofitted with heavy-duty reinforced steel hardware for everyday modern use:
Lowered Box Spring Profile: Heavy-duty iron drop-down brackets are mounted along the interior below the wooden side rails. These hold standard wooden cross-slats (such as 2x4s) below the rail line, allowing a modern box spring to sit sunken within the frame so the mattress does not sit awkwardly high or obscure the turned spindle work.
Enhanced Frame Rigidity: Interior corner L-brackets secure the original wooden side rails tightly against the post joints, eliminating frame sway, wobble, and squeaks while keeping the bed square and structurally solid. See less
