The rectangular mirror is surmounted by an impressive pierced crest featuring a carved laurel wreath, flowering branches, and a central ribbon-bound bundle of wheat, accented by a classical shell motif. Gracefully scrolling acanthus foliage, delicate floral rosettes, and intricately carved leaves create a richly decorative, symmetrical composition inspired by 18th-century French neoclassical design.

The giltwood frame is distinguished by refined architectural moldings, a delicate beaded inner border, and carved ribbon-tied tassels along the sides. Decorative foliate details and finely carved lower corner ornaments further enhance its sophisticated appearance.

The warm gilt finish exhibits an attractive aged patina, highlighting the depth and craftsmanship of the carved decoration. The mirror glass retains subtle age-related pitting, adding character to the piece.

Made in Italy and retaining its original country-of-origin paper label, this handsome mirror reflects the enduring influence of French Louis XVI design on Italian decorative arts.

With its graceful proportions and impressive 43.75-inch height, the mirror would make a striking statement above a console table, in an entryway, bedroom, powder room, or formal living space.

A beautifully proportioned decorative mirror combining Italian craftsmanship with timeless French neoclassical elegance. See less
