‘The Bearing of Fruit’ (in the plant realm)

Unsigned, small label on the reverse with information about the artist and the work, undated [1996]

Mixed media (natural materials such as earth, bone glue, beeswax, and charcoal in a melting technique) on canvas, attached to wood with small nails, framed, under glass [framing by Galerie Sties, Kelkheim]

Size: 87 x 86 cm (object) / 98 x 98.5 cm (frame)

This work was part of the solo exhibition “Domus Dei” at St. Blasii Church (Quedlinburg) in 1996.

Kindly information about the work was provided by the artist himself, who has digital photographs.

This work is part of the “Domus Dei” cycle, which was shown in St. Blasii Church in Quedlinburg in 1996. There were four sections (“houses”) in the cycle at that time: House of the Earth, House of the Plant, House of the Animal, and House of the Human. Each “house” was further subdivided. The work shown here belongs to the Plant section, which had a total of six subsections, of which this work represents fruiting. It is noteworthy that the work is executed in two parts, so that it appears to the viewer like an open, old book page.
