This is a finely crafted antique gilt bronze sculpture of Green Tara, a revered female Bodhisattva in Tibetan Buddhism known for her swift compassion and protection. The figure is seated in the "Royal Ease" (lalitasana) posture upon a lotus base, with her right leg extended and left leg tucked in. She has a serene, gilded face with downed eyes, red lips, and a jeweled crown. Her right hand is extended in the varada mudra (gesture of giving), while her left hand holds the stem of a lotus that blossoms at her shoulder. She is adorned with an elaborate, beaded necklace and flowing robes in deep green and red, accented with silver-toned trim. The sculpture is extensively gilded, with a rich, aged patina and silver-toned details highlighting the fine casting and engraved patterns on the base.
