This custom-made pair in Scalamandré, features a richly detailed linen of quail, foliage, and colorful wildflowers against a honey mustard ground. It has all the appeal of an English country house, without the inconvenience of inheriting one.

The pattern is full of life, and the effect more interesting than most perfectly agreeable neutrals.

Multicolored fringe adds texture and just enough flourish, while the rich brown velvet backs bring a welcome measure of restraint. The covers are removable, with concealed zipper closures and plump down inserts. Beauty, as it turns out, need not be high-maintenance.

This duo bring personality to a library sofa, favorite lounge chairs or a bed that has been behaving itself for far too long. They have the rare ability to make a room feel collected, considered, and just a little less predictable—which is considerably more than most pillows can claim.
