A remarkable mid-century treasure for fine art collectors and vintage enthusiasts alike. This original 1960s expressionist/impressionist landscape painting is by artist Kathryn Williams, curated specifically for the legendary "Vincent Price Collection of Fine Art" sold by Sears, Roebuck and Co.
The piece depicts a dramatic coastal nocturne or moonlit shoreline scene. Utilizing a heavy, expressive impasto technique, the artist beautifully captures the glowing texture of a full moon breaking through a hazy sky over rolling sea foam. A pair of towering, dark pine trees anchor the rocky cliffside in the foreground, contrasted beautifully against deep sapphire blues, brilliant cobalt, and crisp white hues.
The back of the 16x20 canvas board features the authentic, stamped "Sears Vincent Price" emblem, complete with the hand-signed name of the artist and inventory series code "6000." The piece remains housed in its spectacular, original mid-century heavily carved gold-gilt wood frame featuring an eye-catching cobalt blue painted accent border and a textured cream linen liner. A sensational, historic conversation piece with stellar mid-century provenance.
