Exquisitely hand-painted vintage Delft Blue table lamp by Plateelbakkerij Ram of Arnhem newly wired with brass fittings, fabric wrapped cord and a new pleated linen lampshade by London designer Ellen Merchant.
The base shows a peacock in a flowering garden, painted by hand in cobalt on white. Its underside is signed in blue script, "Delfts Blauw, RAM, Made in Holland," the mark the factory used from 1935 until it closed in 1969. Ram opened in 1921 to produce the designs of Theo Colenbrander and turned to hand-painted Delftware later that decade.
The shade fabric began as one of Merchant's linocuts and is screen-printed by hand in England. Its rust and burnt-orange poppies on ivory sit warm against the blue, and the cord is covered in navy cloth. This piece has an attribution mark,
