In the early 1970s he brought this sculptural language to furniture with Poltronova, creating a series of pieces in natural Russian pine that sit somewhere between object and artwork.

This trunk has a softly domed lid built from a row of curved pine slats, a rhythmic, almost architectural top that contrasts with the sturdy rough sawn planks of the body. The corners are joined with exposed interlocking joints, and black metal handles sit on each side. The lid opens on black metal hinges and is held by a steel chain, revealing a generous storage space.

The pine has taken on a warm honey tone with age, and the saw marks and knots give it a strong, honest character. Fire branded "Ceroli Poltronova" on the front.
The lock is functional and the key is included.
