The piece depicts a serene Bodhisattva seated in a relaxed pose atop a prostrate elephant, which rests upon a double-lotus base. The figure is adorned with flowing robes and holds a lotus stem, while a decorative, arched aureole surrounds the deity, filled with intricate scrolling and bead motifs. Crafted using traditional repoussé and chasing techniques, the copper surface is richly detailed with original gold and silver gilding. The combination of the warm gilt tones on the face and body, the silver-toned elephant and robes, and the deep reddish-brown background creates a striking visual contrast. The reverse side shows the natural wood grain and a metal hanging bracket, ready for wall display. A beautiful piece of devotional art for any interior.
