Bright orange, charcoal and olive forms loop around a pale gray ground, with scratched pencil lines tracing the shapes like a drawn court. Two rounded orange forms anchor the lower half, full of energy and motion.
Small and punchy in its maple frame, it suits a desk wall, a bookshelf or a gallery grouping. The orange and charcoal tones pair well with warm wood and gray linen.
Acrylic on Canvas, in a maple frame, 12 x 12 x 1.5 in (30.5 × 30.5 × 3.8 cm).
Lee Cox works in acrylic and collage on canvas, adding and removing layers intuitively until torn and cut shapes, scratched pencil lines and flat fields of color settle into balance. This small work arrives in a high-quality maple frame, ready to hang.
Lee Cox is a contemporary abstract artist based in Carmel, California. After a 35-year career in telecommunications, he moved from lifelong collector of abstract art to dedicated studio painter. His practice is rooted in memory and impression, each painting a layered meditation on a moment, emotion or lived experience. Working in acrylic and collage without a fixed plan, he builds depth and texture through intuitive addition and subtraction, guided by memory and music, until the emotional truth of the moment feels realized. His titles offer context while leaving room for interpretation. His work has been exhibited in solo and juried group shows across California and nationally, and is held in private collections throughout the United States.
