"pinch" by ángela de la cruz in 2015. Edition of 50 + 18 a.p. + 2 p.p. Acrylic on canvas. The document shown on the photo is the “certificate of authenticity” by angela de la cruz studio. Angela de la cruz (1965) is a spanish artist that studied philosophy at the university of santiago de compostela, before moving to london in 1987, where she studied art at the chelsea college of art, goldsmiths college and slade school of art. While studying she removed the stretcher of a painted canvas. De la cruz was inspired by the resulting saggy painting, and she has become best known for paintings which are deliberately broken or distorted. Her work, treating paintings as a three-dimensional object rather than a two-dimensional representation. In 2005 she suffered from a brain hemorrhage and felt in a coma. De la cruz is now a wheelchair user and continues working with assistants through a delegated work, although this method of practice was used by her before the stroke. She lives and works in london. And in 2010 she was nominated for the turner prize for her first solo exhibition in the uk, 'after' at camden arts centre. In recent years de la cruz has also used aluminum and this body of work has been exhibited in 'burst' at the lisson gallery, milan, in 2013 along other exhibitions. In 2017 she has been awarded with the national prize of the plastic arts of spain 2017. The jury has recognized the intensity of its work that explores the complex relation between the illusionist space of the painting and the physical presence of the sculpture. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
