This piece is a classic still life artwork depicting a single pear, hand-signed in the bottom left corner by the artist K. Compton.

The piece is executed using a soft, layered medium—most likely chalk pastels, colored pencils, or a mixed media wash. The fine tooth of the paper texture is visible beneath the colors, giving it a rich, tactile quality. The artist blends warm golden-yellows and earthy ochres with a highly saturated crimson-red blush across the lower belly of the pear. The stem is detailed with dark brown burnt umber tones.

The lighting originates from the upper-left, leaving a subtle white highlight on the top left shoulder of the pear. The right side is heavily shaded with soft transitions to define the fruit’s weight and round, organic curves. The background utilizes cool, muted tones of powder blue and slate gray. A dark, contrasting teal shadow is cast beneath the right side of the pear, anchoring it in space and making the warm tones of the fruit pop.
